The official inauguration of the Nuevo Tartiere stadium. Partizan spoilt the party by scoring two goals in the last five minutes of the match.
5 Oct 2000 Jaén 1 - 1 Málaga
Friendly testimonial match in honour and memory of Tolo Plaza, who managed both sides. Edgar returned to the Málaga side after almost a year out, and Quaye also made an appearance.
6 Oct 2000 Toulouse 1 - 1 Racing Santander
An unfriendly friendly match played in Bayonne with Manjarín sent off and a referee not prepared to take prisoners. Preciado reappeared after a month long injury and got the goal for the Spaniards early on.
7 Oct 2000 Monaco 2 - 3 Villarreal
Villarreal beat a Monaco side weakened by international call-ups. All five goals came in the second half, with Moisés (2) and Craioveanu scoring for the Spanish side and Simone and Eloi replying for the hosts.
29 Nov 2000 All star match against drugs
Game played in the Nou Camp stadium in Barcelona for the third year in a row in collaboration with the charity organization Fundación Proyecto Hombre. In the main match, a Barcelona XI lost to a Spanish league combination 1-2. Dani scored for Barça from Litmanen's pass, but Javi Moreno and Ognjenovic replied for the All Stars.
22 Dec 2000 Catalunya 5 - 0 Lithuania
Catalunya beat Lithuania 5-0 in Barcelona's Nou Camp stadium in front of 50,000 who turned up despite the bad weather. Espanyol's Oscar scored two and the other goals came from Jordi Cruyff (who was brought up in Catalunya and therefore qualifies to play), Gerard (a penalty) and Xavi.
22 Dec 2000 Andalucia 2 - 0 Morocco
Andalucia beat Morocco 2-0, with goals in the first half from Mallorca's Carlos and Recreativo's Oscar. Madrid's Fernando Hierro was team captain and Diego Tristán pulled out through injury.
22 Dec 2000 Cantabria 0 - 1 Estonia
Cantabria were missing the likes of Munitis, De La Peña and Ceballos, and they were beaten 0-1 by Estonia after Kristal scored in the fifteenth minute. Their best known players were Real Madrid's Iván Helguera and Racing's Amavisca.

Match cancelled after Cameroon pulled out at short notice.
23 Dec 2000 Asturias 1 - 0 Macedonia
Asturias played their first match in 64 years, and beat Macedonia 1-0 thanks to an individualist goal early in the second half from Zaragoza's Juanele. Oviedo's international keeper Esteban and Barcelona's Luis Enrique were amongst their stars.
29 Dec 2000 Euskadi 3 - 2 Morocco
Euskadi beat Morocco 3-2 in a close fought match in front of a crowd of 37,000 at the San Mames stadium in Bilbao. Urzaiz scored twice in the first 30 minutes, but Hadda and Regragui levelled the scores in the second half before De Pedro got the winner in injury time.

A run out for the reserves against this local third division side. Goals by Tote (3), Ognjenovic (2), Salgado and Guti.
14 Jan 2001 Galatasaray 1 - 2 Bayer Leverkusen
Tounament in Maspalomas, Gran Canaria, with the above two playing the final, in which four players were sent off. PSV Eidhoven and Rosenborg were the other two participants.
24 Jan 2001 Villarreal 1 - 0 Eintracht Frankfurt
Charity match to collect funds for the earthquake vicitms of El Salvador. Martín Palermo and Gustavo Schelotto made their debuts but didn't score, the only goal coming from Escoda near the end.
27 Feb 2001 Villarreal 1 - 2 Paris Saint Germain
Trofeo de la Cerámica. Two goals from ex Espanyol midfielder De Lucas sank Villarreal before Craioveanu pulled one back near the end.
25 Mar 2001 Zaragoza 3- 2 Monaco
Friendly in which many reserve players took part. Zaragoza's goals were scored by Yordi (2) and Peternac, with Raducioiu and Eloi replying for the French team.
27 Mar 2001 Real Sociedad 0- 1 Girondins Bordeaux
Another midweek friendly in which Llorente and Julio César got themselves injured. Bugnet got the only goal in the second half for the French side.
4 Jun 2001 Barcelona - Espanyol - Real Sociedad
Urruti memorial match after ex-keeper was killed in a car crash a few days earlier. Triangular tournament which Barça won with a goal by Trashorras in the game against Espanyol. The other two 30 minute matches ended 0-0.
5 Jun 2001 Getafe 1 - 2 Real Madrid
Testimonial match, with Barça's Alfonso and brother Iván Pérez in Getafe side., and Illgner in goal for Madrid. Iván scored for the home side, with Solari and Tote replying for the visitors.
