Semi -finals

The draw for the semi-finals of the Spanish cup took place on 16 February, with Celta being paired with Barcelona and Atlético Madrid with Zaragoza, thus avoiding a possible repeat of last year's Barça vs Atlético semi-final which the Catalan side forfeited unable to raise a team. Atlético are looking to get to their third final in a row.

If Barcelona, who have already qualified for the Champions League, win the Spanish Cup final, then the extra UEFA place will go to the losing finalist - either Zaragoza or Atlético Madrid.

However, if Celta win (and they are already in the UEFA), the next team in the final league table, Villarreal, will qualify for the UEFA instead.
