Next season's calendar was approved at the annual assembly of the LFP, with the league beginning as expected on 10th September. As luck would have it, the draw threw together last season's Champions League finalists Real Madrid and Valencia on the first day. Real Madrid will visit Barcelona on day 6 (22nd October), with the return match in Madrid on day 25 (4th March). The meeting also approved a reformed cup competition, and with this being the 25th edition of the Copa del Rey, FC Barcelona's ban (for refusing to play their semi-final last season) was lifted.
