Three out of four victories for Spanish teams in the second round first leg of the UEFA cup. Espanyol's Tamudo demonstrated to Glasgow Rangers that he is not as injured as they think, scoring the opening goal for his side, and Galca added a second from the penalty spot after a foul on Pochettino by Akoto, who was sent off a few minutes later. Sergio added two more before half time for the final 4-0 scoreline against Grazer. Alavés also got their goals early, going three up against the giants of Lillestrom in 48 minutes with goals from defenders Ibon Begoña, Téllez and Contra before the Norwegians pulled one back through Helland. Iván Alonso missed a penalty at the end. Quevedo gave Rayo Vallecano an early lead against Viborg but they couldn't score again even from the penalty spot, with Michel's kick being saved by the keeper. Poschner was sent off for the second time in two matches early in the second half. Celta were the worst off of the Spanish sides, losing 1-0 to Red Star in Belgrade. Drulic got the goal for the Yugoslavians in the second half. (26.10.00)
