The draw for the semi-finals of the Spanish cup took place today, with Celta being paired with Barcelona and Atlético Madrid with Zaragoza, thus avoiding a possible repeat of last year's Barça vs Atlético semi-final which the Catalan side forfeited unable to raise a team.

Oddly, Celta and Barcelona could meet each other as well in the quarter final of the UEFA cup if both qualify next week.

Atlético are looking to get to their third final in a row, and both they and Zaragoza are hoping that their rival will have already finished in the top six by then, thereby assuring them of a place in Europe next season win or lose.

The matches take place after the league has finished, with the first leg on 20th June and the return on 24th June. The final will be in Sevilla the following Saturday, 30th June. (16.02.01)
