Deportivo won the Spanish super cup with two goals in a three minute period in the second half. The first goal came from a Djalminha free kick from the edge of the penalty area, the ball bouncing off the cross bar and landing just over the line. A couple of minutes later a defensive error left Diego Tristán free to shoot past Mora for the second. This was Deportivo's second victory in the competition.
