A goal in the second minute of extra time from Luque put Mallorca through to the league stage of the Champions League for the first time in their history. With a 1-0 result from the first leg in Split to overcome, doom merchants were predicting a repeat of their failure against Molde two seasons ago. The Mallorca players pick up a bonus of around 60 million Pesetas for reaching the lucrative league stage of the competition.
