Goals:
1-0. 92. Rivaldo. Fired free kick into top corner of net from outside of area.

An injury time free kick from Rivaldo deprived Fenerbahçe of their first point in this year's Champions League and ensured Barcelona the top spot in their group. Rivaldo drove his kick into the top corner of Rustu's net to win a match they should have wrapped up much earlier, having failed to take advantage of the many chances they created. With the big match on Sunday taking priority Bonano, Coco and Kluivert were rested, and Overmars, Rochemback and Dani came in to the squad after injury for a run out. Reina started his first match of the season in goal, with Reiziger and Gerard also in the starting line up.

Fenerbahçe were looking for their first points in this year's competition, hoping to avoid being labelled as one of only two teams who have lost all six games, together with Poland's Kosice. They did create a couple of chances, with Sehat in particular shooting wide with only the keeper to beat, but otherwise Barcelona were in control, with Geovanni driving a shot wide after Rivaldo set him up, and Rivaldo himself being closed down by Rustu late in the second half when he broke free. But in the end it was the Brazilian star who saved his teams blushes and gave his team mates another lucrative win bonus with his sixth goal in Europe this year. Final placings: Barcelona 15 points; Bayer Leverkusen 12 points; Lyon 9 points; Fenerbahçe 0 points.
