Preliminary round first leg The first leg matches took
place on 5th and 6th September, with one game delayed by a week. Toledo, who
eliminated Real Madrid last year, won their tie against Calahorra 2-0, and
promotion hopefuls Cádiz won away at another team who played in the
first division in the past, Granada. Full results were as
follows: Preliminary round second leg Seventeen teams from the lower divisions go in to the hat for the first round proper after the qualifying round second leg games on 19th and 20th September. Logroñes continued their comeback after being relegated down to the third division two seasons ago for failing to pay their debts, and after winning promotion back to the second division B this season, they are hoping for a lucrative cup run after coming from behind to beat another ex first division side, Sabadell. Calahorra found themselves two goals and a keeper down after ten minutes against Toledo and never came back, and Cádiz put four past Granada to dump them out of the competition. High scores elsewhere too,
with Ceuta getting five against Atlético Baleares and Figueres putting
no less than eight past Teruel, including seven in the first half. The draw for
the first round takes place on Monday 24th September, with first and second
division teams entering at this stage and games to be played over one leg.
