European competitions rescheduled

The Champions League games postponed from Wednesday have now been rescheduled, and the first round first leg UEFA cup matches which should have been played last Thursday will now be played a week later on 20th September. That will incidentally be a problem for Valencia, who took three days getting to Russia and back to no avail, and they will have to repeat the exercise again.

The two Champions League games have been fixed for Wednesday 10th October, the date also set for the first round of the Copa del Rey. As a result the Spanish cup ties involving Barcelona and Deportivo will be postponed to Wednesday 7th November, which in turn coincides with day 13 of the second division.

All of this was done to make sure that Spain's friendly with Mexico on 14th November would go ahead as planned. (14.09.01)
