Under 17 World Cup

Oman 1 - Spain 2

Spain opened their campaign for the under 17 World Cup with a last minute victory against an opponent suspected of using overage players. It was an extraordinary match, with the Arabian players leaving the field time and time again on stretchers only to reappear seconds later. Oman took the lead halfway through the first half through Al Hinai, but Juan Santiestaban's team came back, with Atlético Madrid's Fernando Torres heading the equaliser early in the second half. Oman's captain Mukhaini was shown the red card as he was lying on the stretcher after the referee lost patience with the continual stoppages, and Melli headed the winner from Gavilán's corner in injury time.
