Under 17 World Cup

Spain 0 - Burkina Faso 1

Spain lost against Burkina Faso in their second game of the under-17 World Cup and now have to beat Argentina in their last match on Thursday if they are to go any further in the competition. The powerful African side had already shown they were a force to be reckoned with when they went within a minute of beating Argentina in their opening game, and they constantly caused problems on the counterattack. The only goal of the game came just before half time from the penalty spot after Flaño handled in the area, Sanou converting the kick. Melli and Fernando Torres went close after the break, but the African defence held firm. Spain ended the game with ten men after their captain Carlos García was carried off with all three changes already made. (17.09.01)
