Spain won the first of two games in three days against Armenia in the qualifying round of the European championships. Played in the African enclave of Melilla, they raced into a four goal lead with less than twenty minutes gone with two from Barcelona striker Sergio and one each from Bilbao's Murillo and Las Palmas's Carmelo. Reyes (Sevilla) and Corominas (Espanyol) added two more after the interval, and local boy Nacho Aznar (Atlético Madrid) came on in the second half, much to the delight of the fans. The next match will take place in Ronda (Málaga province) on Friday afternoon. (23.10.01)
