Cañizares has had to withdraw from the Spanish squad after an injury to his right foot. The accident happened in the hotel room when a bottle of cologne fell and broke when Spain's number one goalkeeper tried to 'control it' with his foot. It apparently cut a tendon and he was treated at a nearby hospital.

Málaga's uncapped goalkeeper Contreras has been called up to join Casillas and Ricardo. In the meantime, Real Madrid's César is out for a month after he injured himself in the Champions League final on Wednesday. (18.05.02)
