Spain beat Germany 3-1 in their friendly under 21 international, which was played in Mallorca. The visitors went in front in the sixth minute when Auer headed home a Feuhler free kick, but Fernando Torres set up Reyes a few minutes later for him to equalise. On the quarter hour mark Riera ran on to a Reyes through ball to make it two, and later in the half Julio Alvarez converted a penalty after Asier Del Horno was fouled in the area. After that the game lost it's momentum, with both managers making numerous substitutions and Riera and Mario going off injured. Substitutes Robles and Mikolajczak were both sent off in injury time.
