Second division, day 28

Murcia and Albacete kept up their push for promotion with 2-0 victories against Badajoz and Leganés respectively, and they share top spot four points ahead of third placed Levante. David Vidal's side were too good for the Extremadurians despite playing over half the game with ten men, and the league's top scorer Jesús Perera came back to put the Manchegans on the way to their victory.

It looks like being a four horse race for the three promotion spots after a six points gap opened up between the leading contenders and fifth placed Poli Ejido. Levante held on to the last promotion spot despite being held to a 0-0 draw by Numancia, but Zaragoza are now only a point behind them after beating struggling Oviedo 0-2.

Tenerife lost ground on the leaders when they were held to their sixteenth draw of the season, this time 1-1 by Terrassa, and they drop to sixth place. Xerez are just behind them on goal difference after they drew by the same result at Salamanca.

Once again it is a closely fought contest, with only two points separate seven teams near the bottom of the table. Almería drop into the relegation spots after they were beaten 4-1 by an improving Compostela, and Córdoba keep up their fight to stay up with a 1-0 win over Elche. (23.03.03)

Poli Ejido kept alive their hopes of promotion with a 1-0 win against Sporting Gijon, and they move up to fifth in the table. Las Palmas were held to a 0-0 draw at Getafe, and Racing Ferrol made it sixteen games without a win after they lost 0-1 to relegation rivals Eibar. (22.03.03)
