Second division, day 39

Albacete beat Getafe 3-1 with two goals from top scorer Jesús Perera to move level with Zaragoza in second place. There is no promotion for either though as yet as fourth placed Levante won 2-1 against Tenerife to keep within eight points of them both.

Down at the bottom Badajoz found themselves five points away from safety after losing 4-0 to Numancia. Oviedo are also in trouble after they were beaten 1-0 by Poli Ejido. The other two relegation spots are less clear though after Racing Ferrol beat Córdoba 1-2. They are both level on points with Eibar, who drew 1-1 at Xerez. Salamanca can consider themselves safe though after defeating Compostela 4-2. (08.06.03)

Zaragoza's promotion celebrations were put on hold after they were beaten 2-0 by struggling Leganés on Saturday evening. Calandria was the man who did the damage with a goal in each half. Meanwhile Murcia were consolidating their position at the top of the table with a 1-4 win at Las Palmas. Down at the bottom of the table, Almería took a valuable point at Sporting with a 2-2 draw, the same score as the game between Elche and Terrassa. In the promotion play-offs, Real Unión beat Lanzarote 3-0, their third win in a row. (07.06.03)
