Second division, day 2

None of the teams who won on the first day were able to repeat the act on Sunday, leaving newly promoted Cádiz sitting proudly in first spot. Last weeks joint leaders Getafe were held to a 1-1 draw by third placed Almería, as were Tenerife at Algeciras. Eibar and Numancia meanwhile were being beaten by the same 1-0 scoreline, the former at Recreativo and the latter at Salamanca.

Alavés got their first three points of the season with a 2-1 victory over Sporting Gijon, who are joint bottom together with Málaga B after losing both their opening games. Poli Ejido beat Terrassa by the same result to get their campaign off to a start, and Córdoba were held to a 1-1 draw by Ciudad de Murcia in their first home game. (07.09.03)

Cádiz move to the top of the second division pending Sunday's results after coming from behind to beat Málaga B 1-3. They take over from joint leaders Levante who were held to a 1-1 draw by Elche. Rayo Vallecano got their first point of the season with a 0-0 draw at Xerez, and big spending Leganés recovered from a two goal deficit at Las Palmas to draw 2-2. (06.09.03)
