Second division, day 4

The second division looks like being another tight battle with only three points separating the top ten teams. Leaders Cádiz lost 3-2 to Getafe but still hold on to top spot after the chasing pack failed to take advantage. Getafe move up to third behind Levante, who beat Numancia 4-0, and Tenerife drop out of the top three after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Córdoba.

A late goal by youngster Kiko gave Alavés a 1-0 win over Málaga B, and Ciudad de Murcia recorded their first victory in the second division with a 2-3 win at Las Palmas. Elche also got their first win of the season, defeating Poli Ejido 1-2. The other two games on Sunday ended 1-1, with Recreativo being held by Sporting and Xerez and Leganés playing out their fourth draws in as many games. (21.09.03)

Rayo Vallecano beat managerless Terrassa 1-2, their second win in a row, despite playing over half the match with ten men after Peragón was sent off. Marqués and Bolo got the goals, with Juan Carlos pulling one back for the Catalans from the penalty spot late on.

Second placed Almería kept up their unbeaten record with a 0-0 draw at Algeciras. Both sides had a player sent off in the first half in a match in which the referee showed 14 yellow cards and two reds.

Two goals in three minutes from on-loan striker Gorka Brit gave Eibar a 1-2 win at Salamanca. Zé Tó pulled one back for the hosts near the end. (20.09.03)
