Second division, day 6

Levante moved into top spot on goal average thanks to a last minute goal from Sérvulo against ten man Eibar. They are level on 12 points with Cádiz and Almería. Getafe drop out of the promotion spots after a 3-0 defeat at the hands of struggling Algeciras, who move out of the bottom four as a result of their first win since being promoted.

There were first victories too for Leganés and Xerez, who had both drawn all five of their opening matches. Leganés won 0-1 at a Terrassa side who under the charge of their ex manager Enrique Martín, and Xerez beat the hitherto undefeated Ciudad de Murcia 2-1.

Away wins for Sporting Gijon and Elche took them both away from the lower part of the table. Sporting won 0-2 at Salamanca, who themselves are now only just above the bottom four, and Elche defeated Rayo Vallecano 1-2 after scoring twice early on. (05.10.03)

Leaders Cádiz were beaten 2-0 by an Alavés side who themselves move to fourth in the table, level with Numancia who beat Poli Ejido 1-3. Almería draw level with Cádiz at the top after a 0-1 win against Córdoba, who could drop into the bottom four after Sunday's games.

Tenerife also move up to the promotion spots pending tomorrow's matches after drawing 1-1 at Las Palmas in the Canary Island derby, and Recreativo Huelva were held to a scoreless draw by bottom club Málaga B. (04.10.03)
