Third placed Almería lost their unbeaten record this season when they were beaten 1-2 by Rayo Vallecano. Sporting Gijon moved up to seventh after a 2-0 win over Elche, who drop to eighth. Córdoba are breathing down their necks though after their fourth win in a row under new manager Miguel Angel Portugal, Pulpo González scoring in the last minute to give them a 1-0 victory over Salamanca. An injury time goal from Karmona prevented Numancia from taking the three points at Eibar. Rosu had put the league leaders ahead, but the ex Alavés defender popped up to make it 1-1 and take his side into fourth spot. Meanwhile Levante move up to second pending Almería's game on Sunday with a 0-1 victory at struggling Algeciras. The only goal came from substitute Congo in the second half. And in the third game played on Saturday, Tenerife and Leganés played out a 0-0 draw on a evening when heavy rain fell in the Canary Islands. (22.11.03)
