Second division, day 15

Sporting Gijon beat leaders Numancia 1-0 to move up to third place in the table. The only goal came from Bilic shortly after the break, taking the Asturians above Almería, who lost 1-3 at home to Leganés. Levante held on to second spot after drawing 1-1 at Córdoba, both goals coming in the last three minutes of the game. Meanwhile Cádiz and Eibar lost out on the chance to move into the top three after they cancelled each other out in a 0-0 draw.

Algeciras sank further down at the bottom of the table after they were beaten 0-1 by fellow strugglers Poli Ejido. The visitors move up above Málaga B, who were held to a 1-1 draw by Elche. Ciudad de Murcia kept their noses just above the bottom four after they drew by the same score at Tenerife. (07.12.03)

A hat-trick from Michel gave Getafe a 3-1 win over neighbours Rayo Vallecano, taking the Madrid based side up to fourth and ending the visitors' run of three wins in a row. The other two teams relegated from last season did badly too, Alavés losing 0-1 to relegation candidates Terrassa thanks to a 94th minute goal from Maikel, and Recreativo being held to another 0-0 draw, this time by local rivals Xerez. In the other match on Saturday night, Salamanca beat Las Palmas 2-0. (06.12.03)
