A last second goal from Villarreal's Xisco Nadal saved a draw for Spain's youngsters after they had thrown away a two goal lead against Sierra Leone. Juan Santiesteban's squad were concerned about this fixture, as their record against the more physically developed African youth sides was poor, having only won once in seven previous games in international tournaments. However they seemed to be on their way to a comfortable victory when David Rodríguez scored a first and then set up a second for Sisi with only a quarter of an hour on the clock.

But soon afterwards Spain were left with ten men after Arzo picked up a rigorous second yellow card from Saudi referee Khalid Al-Ghamdi. And by half time the Africans had draw level with two goals in two minutes from Samuel Barlay, the second after a mistake by keeper Adan. The forward completed his hat-trick in the second half to give Sierra Leone the lead, and it looked as if Spain were on for another defeat against a team who appeared to be older than their years. But substitute Xisco got on the end of a corner from his Villarreal team mate Cases to save a point with the last action of the game.
