Bloise. Spain lost their
second game to France, and now have to beat Northern Ireland in their last
group A match on Sunday to be sure of reaching the semi-finals. The game got
off to a lively start, with both sides going close early on. Spain though lost
their striker César to an injury with only a quarter of an hour gone,
and two minutes later France got the only goal of the game, Mario jumping to
try and block an inocuous looking cross from Menez but only succeeding in
deflecting it past his own keeper Adán. Juan Esteban's side fought back,
with Marcos and substitute Pedraza going close in the first half and Javi
García shooting wide soon after the restart, but when Piqué
headed just past the post in the last minute there was no time left.
