Deportivo La Coruña are through to the league stage of the Champions League after a 3-0 win over Shelbourne, although they suffered more than expected before finally winning through. With no goals from the first leg, the Spaniards needed to score, but only Luque went close and Houlihan could have put the Irish side ahead had he not headed straight at Molina when free in front of the keeper. However the hosts eventually went two up early in the second half, Víctor celebrating his return to the international squad with two impressive goals which put the fans' nerves at rest. And Pandiani made it three with a late free kick, taking his relieved side through to next Thursday's draw.
