Group F table

A second victory for Barcelona took them joint top of their group together with AC Milan. Their opponents Shakhtar Donetsk put up a good fight though, and caused more problems than expected throughout the match.

However Barça were unstoppable on the night, and gave a first warning when Belletti curled a shot just wide in the first minute. With a quarter of an hour on the clock they took the lead in a quick passing move, Ronaldinho finding Deco for him to fire off a shot which took a slight deflection off the foot of Rat before entering the net.

The Catalans pushed forward looking for more goals, but Shakhtar created a couple of chances either side of the break which they were unable to convert, in particular one chance from Matuzalem. But midway through the second half Ronaldinho broke through the defence, and although his attempted lob didn't quite clear Lastuvka, the keeper's attempt to fist the high rebound away ended with the Brazilian on the ground and referee Terje Hauge pointing at the penalty spot.

Ronaldinho converted the kick himself, and after that it was play time. Larsson came on and should have scored two or three, shooting straight at the keeper within seconds of coming on and having a powerful header cleared off the line by Rat.

Lastuvka in fact was the only reason that the Spaniards didn't get a bag-full, but he could do nothing in the last minute when Iniesta unselfishly set up Eto'o for the easiest of goals. And there was time after that for the locals to add to their scoreline, but Larsson put his shot wide with the goal at his mercy. This Barcelona side will take some stopping, although whether they will go all the way or not will be clearer after their next two games, which will be against AC Milan.
