A fantastic match at Stamford Bridge, where Barcelona bowed out of the competition after losing 4-2 against Chelsea. Despite the Catalans' 2-1 lead from the first leg, the game appeared to be over within twenty minutes when the English side raced in to a three goal lead, Gudjohnsen starting things off early on after collecting Kezman's cross to beat Víctor Valdés. Lampard got a second on the follow up after Valdés could only push out Joe Cole's deflected shot, and Duff made it three two minutes later after Cole put him through.

But Frank Rijkaard's team didn't give up, and could have scored twice when Cech tipped Eto'o's effort over the bar, and Ronaldinho headed just wide from the resulting corner. And two minutes later they were awarded a hotly disputed penalty by referee Pierluigi Collina after Ferreira handled in the area, Ronaldinho stepping up to convert the kick. Then seven minutes before half time Ronaldinho put his side ahead in the tie after catching out Cech with an unexpected shot from the edge of the area.

Cole hit the post before the break, but the Catalans could have settled it when Cech stopped a Puyol header on the line after the restart, and Iniesta hit the post a few minutes later. However with a quarter of an hour to go Terry got on the end of a corner to head the winner, Collina turning down Barça's protests that Carvalho had impeded Valdés. Chelsea go through to the last eight, and Barcelona go home ruing their missed chances and those opening twenty minutes.
