Intertoto cup, third round first leg

Victories for both Spanish clubs in the third round of the Intertoto cup, although Villarreal's 1-0 victory over Spartak Moscow leaves them with work to do in the second leg. Sonny Anderson got the only goal in the second half. Earlier in the evening Atlético Madrid opened their new campaign with a 2-4 victory against little known Czech side Zlin.
