Spain beat Poland 4-1 in their last group game to finish top of their section with maximum points. Already sure of qualifying for a place in the last four, Armando Ufarte gave a run out to the remaining players in his squad and rested some of his key players. But even with a weakened side they were more than a match for the East Europeans, and within 15 minutes they were already two up with strikes from Valero and Víctor. Piszczek pulled one back on the stroke of half time, but Gavilán and Soldado got two more after the restart to set up a semi-final tie against the Ukraine in Fribourg next Wednesday. (18.07.04)
