European Super Cup

Porto 1 - Valencia 2

Valencia bounced back from their Spanish Super Cup defeat to beat Champions League winners Porto 2-1 and take the European Super Cup. Baraja opened the scoring for Claudio Ranieri's men on the half hour mark when he surprised Vitor Baia with a powerful header, and Di Vaio made it two with his first official goal for his new club a quarter of an hour in to the second half. Quaresma pulled one back for Víctor Fernández's side later on, but Valencia held fast and went on to win their sixth title in only five years. (27.08.04)
