Second division, day 3

Last week's two leaders both failed to win, leaving a five way tie at the top of the second division. Valladolid are in second place behind Terrassa after drawing 2-2 at Ciudad Murcia, a game in which Aduriz scored his sixth of the season for the visitors but "Spiderman" Ubeda almost won with two goals for the locals. Eibar join the top two on seven points after a 2-1 win over Salamanca, together with Xerez, who won 1-0 against Poli Ejido thanks to a first minute strike from Lekic, and Recreativo, who's 1-0 victory sent Real Murcia to the bottom of the table with three defeats in a row.

Celta were unable to keep up their winning run though, dropping out of the top three after losing 1-0 to Sporting Gijón. Youth international Javi Fuego got the only goal in the second half, a few minutes after Nagore was sent off for the visitors. Lleida join both sides on six points after coming from behind to beat Málaga B 2-1, veteran midfielder Stankovic getting one of their goals. The other newly promoted sides all picked up a point, Nàstic and Racing Ferrol cancelling each other out in a 1-1 draw, and Pontevedra getting their first goals in a 2-2 draw with Elche. (12.09.04)

Terrassa are the new leaders of the second division pending Sunday's games after a 2-0 win over Córdoba, Navas and Gallego getting the goals either side of half time. There were first wins on Saturday evening for Alavés and Cádiz, an early Nené goal giving Alavés a 1-0 win over Tenerife, and veteran striker Oli scoring the only goal as Cádiz beat Almería 0-1.
