Second division, day 11

Celta are starting to claw their way back up the table after a bad start, and a last minute goal by Juan Sánchez gave them a 1-0 win over Poli Ejido on Sunday lunchtime. The result leaves the Almería based side out of the top three. Later in the day Lleida moved to within a point of the promotion spots with a 3-0 win over Pontevedra, Nakor getting a hat-trick in the match. Elche missed out on a chance to keep up with the leaders though after they threw away a one goal lead to lose 2-1 at Recreativo Huelva.

Once again it was a low scoring weekend, especially for away sides who only managed three goals between them. One side who did score on their travels though was Valladolid, Figueredo's injury time strike saving a point in a 1-1 draw at Sporting Gijón. Another of last year's relegated sides Real Murcia are slowly starting to pick up points, and they beat bottom side Córdoba 1-0 to make it four games now without defeat. Murcia's city neighbours Ciudad are now level with them on points after they drew 0-0 at Almería. (07.11.04)

All change in the second division, where leaders Xerez were beaten for the first time this season by Alavés, who move up into the promotion spots as a result. It took two late goals from De Lucas and Nené to give Piterman's side the victory though after De Lucas had missed an earlier penalty. Eibar took advantage to move to the top of the table with a 1-0 victory over Terrassa, a strike from top scorer Llorente giving the Basque side their sixth home win in a row.

Racing Ferrol beat struggling Salamanca 2-1 to make it nine wins without defeat and move up to fourth spot in the table pending Sunday's results. Jaio and Bermejo got the goals before Robert's late consolation. Cádiz are only two points behind them though after a convincing 4-0 win over Málaga B, three of the goals coming in the second half. And Nàstic moved out of the relegation spots after a 1-0 win over Tenerife, Ibon Begoña getting the only goal on the half hour mark. (06.11.04)
