Spanish international squad

Three uncapped players were called up for next week's World Cup qualifier with San Marino. Coach Luis Aragonés included De la Peña, Guayre and David Villa in his 18 man squad, as well as Orbaiz and Pablo, who made their first appearances as substitutes in the friendly against England. Out go Iván Helguera, Angulo, Reyes and the injured Xavi Alonso, and there is no place for Baraja, Morientes, Yeste or for Albelda, who is suspended. The full squad is as follows:

Goalkeepers: Casillas (Real Madrid), Cañizares (Valencia);
Defenders: Del Horno (Athletic Bilbao), Pablo (Atlético Madrid), Puyol (Barcelona), Romero (Deportivo), Salgado (Real Madrid), Marchena (Valencia);
Midfielders: Orbaiz (Athletic Bilbao), Xavi (Barcelona), Joaquín (Betis), De la Peña (Espanyol), Guti (Real Madrid);
Forwards: Fernando Torres (Atlético Madrid), Luque (Deportivo), Raúl (Real Madrid), Guayre (Villarreal), David Villa (Zaragoza).
