Second division, day 27

Celta opened up a three point lead at the top of the second division after beating Alavés 0-3 in a match which ended in a snowstorm. All three goals came from Jandro, making it six wins in a row for the Galicians and six defeats in a row for Dmitri Piterman's side. Eibar are third though with a game in hand after beating promotion rivals Elche 5-2. The Basque side raced into a five goal lead with a quarter of the game still to go before the visitors scored two late consolation goals. Xerez and Valladolid cancelled each other out though in a 0-0 draw in which visiting keeper Bizzarri saved a first minute penalty.

Nàstic kept up their recent good run with a 2-0 win over Salamanca, and they join the group chasing the three promotion spots. Manolo and Buades got the goals in each half. And there was a 2-0 win as well for Sporting Gijón against Málaga B, Dani Borreguero and Calandria scoring for the Asturians in the first quarter of an hour of the game. Elsewhere Almería and Poli Ejido drew 1-1 in their local derby match, Vucko opening the scoring for the visitors in the second half but getting him sent off in the celebrations, and Luna replying soon afterwards.

Real Murcia beat Racing Ferrol 1-0 to move to within the brink of climbing out of the bottom four, and they are now level on points with Salamanca and Almería. Their city neighbours Ciudad Murcia threw away a two goal lead at Pontevedra though, drawing 2-2 in the end to drop two points behind their rivals. Pontevedra are back in last place after Córdoba came from behind to beat Lleida 1-2. (06.03.05)

Cádiz moved back to the top of the second division on goal difference pending Celta's game on Sunday after drawing 1-1 at Recreativo. Enrique gave the visitors the lead midway through the first half, but Ramón equalised a few minutes later to keep the Huelva based side in the promotion race. There was only one other game on Saturday evening, Terrassa and Tenerife playing out a 0-0 draw. It could have been different though had substitute Raúl Martín not hit the post for the Canary Islanders in injury time. (05.03.05)
