Transfer rumours

The players may be taking a well earned holiday, but the clubs' technical staff are working flat out to build up their squads for next season. Valencia have been the early movers in the transfer market, snapping up Edu, Kluivert, David Villa and Reguerio in a push to return to the big time after a disappointing season. With a squad of around 40 though (including players returning from loan), many will have to leave to make room. Xisco was the first to go, moving to Champions League side Betis, and others should follow soon. Atlético Madrid are not far behind Valencia though, and they too are pulling out all the stops to try and get back their status as Spain's third ranked side. Kezman has already signed and Maxi Rodríguez is almost there, Galletti and Petrov are expected to join them this week and Saviola is another option. Now the only thing is, can they hold on to Fernando Torres? (29.06.05)
