A set back in Spain's second
group game, where they were held to a 1-1 draw by Switzerland. Both teams had
won their opening matches, and with Denmark and Poland drawing 1-1 the winner
would have been guaranteed first place in the group. Real Madrid's Bueno gave
his side the lead in the first half, but substitute Halimi equalised on a rapid
counterattack after the break. Either side could have won it in the end, Pecci
and Schneuwly both hitting the woodwork late on. But a draw was a fair result,
and with the Swiss having the better goal average, Spain need a big score in
their last match against Poland on Saturday to go through. |
