European tournament, summer 2004

Spain's manager Armando Ufarte has called up a group of 18 players for the finals in Switzerland as follows:

Goalkeepers: Ribas (Espanyol), Manu (Sporting);
Defenders: Amorebieta (Athletic Bilbao), Chica and Robusté (Espanyol), Alexis (Málaga), Garrido (Real Sociedad), Sergio Ramos (Sevilla);
Midfielders: Juanfran, Rubén and Valero (Real Madrid), Markel (Real Sociedad), Albiol, David Silva and Gavilán (Valencia);
Forwards: Juan Tomás (Espanyol), Víctor (Mallorca), Soldado (Real Madrid).

Four more players had been called up for training but were left out in the end, Llamas (Barcelona), Sergio (Espanyol), Sisi (Valencia) and Xisco (Villarreal). With the exception of Juanfran and Gavilán, who replace Saúl and Willy, the squad is the same as the one which won through the qualifying round a couple of months ago. (12.07.04)
