Intertoto Cup finals, first leg

Deportivo are close to a place in the UEFA cup after beating Olympique Marseille 2-0 in their Intertoto Cup final. Both goals came in the second half, youngsters Rubén Castro and Iván Carril giving Joaquín Caparrós's side a well earned victory. Valencia still have a lot of work to do though after losing 1-0 to Hamburg. Barbarez got the goal soon after the restart before getting himself sent off near the end, but it could have been worse had Cañizares not made a string of fine saves later on. (09.08.05)
