Pre-season matches

Two of the summer's big tournaments were played this week, the Teresa Herrera trophy and the Colombino cup. Deportivo hosted the former as usual, and ran out winners for the sixth time in a row after beating Uruguay's Nacional and Peñarol. And Recreativo Huelva beat Athletic Bilbao to reach the final of their in-house trophy which they lost 1-2 to Sevilla thanks to an injury time goal from 40 metres out by Daniel Alves. Valencia also revived their "Trofeo Naranja" with games against Olympiakos and Udinese, although in their case they lost both matches and the Italian side took away the cup. (18.08.05)
