Second division, day 5

Tenerife are the new leaders in the second division after beating Almería 2-1. Cristo Marrero got the winner after Crusat equalised Toñito's early header to give the Canary Islanders their third win in a row. Levante drop to second after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Albacete earlier in the day. N'Diaye gave the Valencia based side the lead immediately after the restart, but Bauzá saved a point for the visitors who are still in the relegation zone. Real Murcia moved up to third spot after a 0-3 win at Poli Ejido, Pablo Sierra, Carrera and Richi getting the goals in the second half.

The only other side to win were newly promoted Lorca, who beat Nàstic 1-0 thanks to a strike from ex Fulham and Celta forward Sava. Valladolid threw away a one goal lead to draw 1-1 with Málaga B, González-Vigil equalising late on, and Sporting Gijón also drew 1-1 with Real Madrid Castilla, Biagini saving a point for the Asturians after Valero appeared to have scored the winner eight minutes from the end. And Ciudad Murcia were held to a 0-0 result by Castellón, who stay bottom of the table despite picking up their first point of the season. (25.09.05)

Xerez moved up to second in the table after beating Lleida 0-1, Pedro Ríos heading the only goal in injury time. The Andalusians played over three quarters of the match with ten men after Selu was shown the red card. Hércules are fifth after a 4-0 win over Numancia, all four goals coming after the visiting keeper was sent off around the half hour mark. Elsewhere Racing Ferrol climb out of the relegation zone with a 2-1 victory over Elche, and Eibar also recorded their first win of the season, beating Recreativo by the same scoreline. (24.09.05)
