Second division, day 7

Xerez lead the second division after an extraordinary 2-6 win at fourth placed Ciudad Murcia. Dani Pendín and Pedro Ríos scored two each against their hosts, who played almost all of the game with ten men after Raúl Pérez was sent off for giving away an early penalty. Real Murcia stay in the promotion spots after drawing 1-1 at Elche, Iván Alonso giving them the lead in the sixth minute but Nino equalising soon afterwards. And Recreativo Huelva moved up to fourth with a 1-3 victory at promotion rivals Levante, Uche, Viqueira and Calle giving the Andalusians the three points after Riga had opened the scoring in the first minute of the second half.

Valladolid are level with Recre after a last minute goal from Mario gave them a 1-0 win over Almería, and Sporting Gijón are just two points behind following a belaboured 2-0 victory over bottom club Castellón, who put up a good fight despite having their keeper sent off with just over a quarter of an hour on the clock. A late goal from Pepe Aguilar gave Lorca a 1-0 win over Málaga B, who drop into the relegation zone as a result. Real Madrid Castilla moved above them with a 1-3 win at struggling Eibar, Javi García and De la Red getting the winners after Manolo equalised Angelo's first half strike. (09.10.05)

Tenerife returned to the top of the table pending Sunday's matches after beating Numancia 2-1 on Saturday evening. Both goals came from Maikel, with Tevenet temporarily levelling the scores in between. Albacete's shaky start to the season appears to be behind them, and a 2-3 win over Racing Ferrol (with two goals from Mario Bermejo) took them up to within two points of the top three. Hércules are level with the Manchegan side though after a Moisés strike gave them a 0-1 victory at Lleida. And to round off a bad day for the Catalan teams, Nàstic were beaten 2-0 at Poli Ejido.
