Second division, day 31

Recreativo hold on to top spot after drawing 1-1 at Elche, Gaston Casas levelling the scores on the stroke of half time after Nino put the locals ahead. The Andalusians have been caught on points though by Nàstic, who continue to break all records away from home with a 0-1 win at Real Murcia. Buades got the only goal from the penalty spot near the end. Almería are just two points behind the pair of them after a 2-4 victory at Levante earlier in the day.

Lorca move ahead of Levante up to fourth with a 3-2 win over Castellón, and Valladolid seriously damaged Xerez's hopes of promotion after beating them 3-1. Lleida moved away from the danger zone with a 3-0 victory over Albacete, and Racing Ferrol climbed out of the bottom four to the detriment of Tenerife after beating Málaga B 2-1. (02.04.06)

Four games on Saturday evening in the second division, although none of the top six sides were involved. Ciudad Murcia took advantage to close up on the leading group with a 0-1 win at Tenerife, a result which leaves the Canary Islanders on the verge of the relegation zone. Goitom got the only goal of the game a quarter of an hour from the end. Numancia are level with Ciudad though after a last minute win over Eibar, who every day are looking more and more like relegation candidates after 18 years at this level. New signing Magallanes appeared to have saved them a point when he equalised Palacios's earlier goal, but Juan Carlos Moreno struck the winner in the last minute for the visitors.

Real Madrid Castilla are also firmly ensconced in the top half of the table after a convincing 0-3 win over Poli Ejido. De la Red gave the youngsters the lead in only the third minute, and second division top goalscorer Soldado added a second before the break. And Negredo wrapped things up with a second half penalty to leave their hosts down near the relegation spots once again. Elsewhere Sporting Gijón and Hércules shared the points in a 1-1 draw, Biagini saving a draw for the Asturians after Quique Mateo had put the visitors ahead. (01.04.06)
