Second division, day 33

Almería held on to third spot after drawing 1-1 at Racing Ferrol, Ortíz saving a point for Paco Flores's side after Juan Carlos had given the locals the lead from the penalty spot. They are only one point ahead of three teams though, including Xerez who themselves stay one point ahead of Lorca after a 1-1 draw against the second division debutants. Geijo gave the Andalusians the lead midway through the first half, but Maldonado equalised after the restart. Earlier in the day Levante took the three points in their promotion battle with Numancia to move up level with Xerez, Riga scoring late on to give them a 1-0 victory.

Ciudad Murcia are also level with Xerez and Levante after defeating Valladolid 0-2, Luque and Piti getting the goals in the second half. Ciudad's city neighbours Real Murcia also had a good day after beating Málaga B 4-1 with two goals from Richi, a result which leaves the South coast side closer to relegation. They are still two points above bottom club Eibar though after the Basque side lost 0-1 to Hércules, their sixth defeat in a row. Castellón however moved out of the bottom four, their 0-2 win at Poli Ejido taking them just above Tenerife thanks to a slightly better goal difference. (16.04.06)

Nàstic moved three points clear at the top of the table after a 1-2 win against Catalan neighbours Lleida. Some 6,000 travelling fans saw their side go two up with strikes from Llera and Cuéllar before Juanlu got one back. Last week's leaders Recreativo drop to second after a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Albacete, Merino putting through his own net close to half time. Elsewhere Elche came back from a goal down to beat Castilla 2-1 with goals from Nino and Toledo in the last five minutes, and Sporting Gijón went behind twice at home to Tenerife before drawing 2-2.
