Second division, day 35

The two leaders both won on Sunday to keep up the five point gap over the chasing pack. Recreativo beat Lleida 0-4 with two from Uche and two more from Cheli and Casas to stay in first place. Nàstic are only just behind on goal difference though after a 3-2 victory over a Málaga B side who will be automatically relegated after it was confirmed today that their first team will be dropping down to the second division A. The Catalans were always in control, strikes from Ekpoki, Pinilla and Llera keeping them ahead despite late goals from Perico and Usero. Earlier in the day local rivals Lorca and Ciudad Murcia cancelled each other out in a 2-2 draw which leaves both outside of the top three.

The promotion hopes of Xerez took a blow when they were beaten 4-1 by Poli Ejido who move away from the danger zone as a result. All the goals came after the break, with Pedro Vega getting two for the hosts. Numancia are now level with Lucas Alcaraz's side after beating struggling Racing Ferrol 1-3 with first half strikes from Moreno, Palacios and Del Pino. The Galicians are now seven points away from safety after Castellón picked up a late 1-2 win at Elche, and Albacete beat Castilla 1-0 with a last minute goal from Parri. (30.04.06)

Levante moved back into the top three after beating Hércules 2-0 on Saturday evening, despite playing half the match with ten men. Manchev and Nagore got the goals late in the game to take their side above Almería, who lost 1-0 at Real Murcia. A Richi strike early on was enough to give Kresic's side a much needed three points. Another disappointing result for Valladolid though, a 1-3 defeat at the hands of Sporting Gijón leaving them in the bottom half of the table. Tenerife took a step towards salvation however, Cristian Alvarez scoring in the third minute of injury time to give the Canary Islanders a 0-1 win at struggling Eibar. (29.04.06)
