UEFA Cup final

Sevilla 4 - Middlesbrough 0

Sevilla are the new champions of the UEFA Cup after beating Middlesbrough 4-0! The Andalusians produced a magnificent performance to record one of the biggest wins in the history of the competition and take their first trophy since 1948 in this their centenary year. Luis Fabiano opened the scoring midway through the first half when he headed Daniel Alves's long centre past Schwarzer, and Palop made a vital save from Viduka soon after the restart as the English side came looking for the equaliser. Maresca scored twice though in six minutes to put the game beyond Boro's reach, and the Italian midfielder also had a hand in the fourth goal, Kanouté finishing off after a shaky Schwarzer could only push out his shot.
