Spain got off to the best
possible start in this European youth championship with a record 1-7 win over
hosts Luxembourg. Helped by a shaky keeper, Juan Santiesteban's side were three
up within twenty minutes, Valencia's Aarón beating Castellini twice and
Rubén Ramos heading in another in between.
Mallorca's Emilio Nsue and
Rubén both went close before half time, but Hermosa made it four within
a quarter of an hour of the restart. And Barcelona's 15 year old striker Borjan
Krkic came on at the break to help himself to a second half hat-trick, with
Luxembourg's Pjanic at least giving the home crowd something to cheer about a
few minutes from the end. The down side for Spain was an injury to one of their
star players Emilio, who will miss the rest of the tournament as a
result. |
