Spain qualified for a place
in the semi-finals of the European Championship after taking maximum points at
the group stage. A 2-0 victory over Hungary left them well clear at the top of
their group, and they will face the Czech Republic next Thursday for a place in
the final. Rubén Ramos opened the scoring for Juan Santiesteban's side
when he got on the end of Azpilicueta's cross to head past Baliko in the
twentieth minute.
Sergio had to make a couple
of saves after the restart, but the East Europeans were left with ten men when
Lengyel was sent off for punching at Ortíz, and a few minutes lter half
time substitute Bojan Krkic wrapped things up from the penalty spot after the
Barcelona forward had been fouled, his fourth goal in the tournament.
Aarón brought a good save out of Baliko and Bojan hit the post near the
end, but by then they had done enough to make sure of first place in group A.
