Sevilla won through to the final of the UEFA cup in their centenary year, beating Schalke '04 in the semi-final thanks to a strike by Antonio Puerta in extra time.

Juande Ramos's side needed to score after the goal-less result in the first leg, and Luis Fabiano, Saviola and Adriano all went close early on. Palop was called upon several times to save though, in particular with stops from Asamoah and Kuranyi after the restart.

Saviola tried his luck a couple of times more, Luis Fabiano had a penalty appeal turned down, and Rost did well to keep out Maresca. The game went in to extra time though, and with ten minutes gone Puerta unleashed a fantastic shot in off the post.

Sevilla were through to the final in Eindhoven, where they will meet England's Middlesbrough, who beat Steaua Bucharest in their semi-final.
