Transfer rumours

A bit of a rush during the last few days of the transfer window, but still not as much as in previous years. Of the 86 new inscriptions in the LFP's top two divisions, no less than 29 were registered on the last day, with Celta defender Areias the last to come through the door. The Galicians had already included striker Bamogo first thing in the morning, and he was followed by Betis striker Pancraté, Zaragoza left back Nery and Nàstic's Chabaud and Grahn amongest others. And there will be one more Englishman playing in Spain for the rest of this season, Burnley's Noel-Williams joining second division promotion favourites Real Murcia.

Ronaldo completed his move to AC Milan, but Madrid were unable to tie up a loan deal the other way for Oliveira, and will have to make do with what they've got. Arbeloa and Francis join the "Armada" at Liverpool, but Riquelme, Duscher, Coloccini, Diego Tristán and Ezquerro will be staying put after possible moves all failed for whatever reason. No more transfers will be allowed from now on until the end of the season, except in the cases of long term injuries, or (for labour law reasons) players who are currently unemployed. (01.02.07)
