Second division - day 23

Almería hold on to third spot after a last minute 2-1 victory over Real Murcia on Sunday lunchtime. Aranda had equalised Acasiete's earlier goal, but Soriano got the winner in injury time. Only two goals in the four other matches on Sunday, with Numancia moving up to seventh after a Bolo strike gave them a 1-0 win over Ponferradina. A late goal by Capi helped Lorca to a 0-1 victory at Sporting Gijón, the Asturians' fifth defeat in a row. And 0-0 draws in the other two games, between Salamanca and Poli Ejido, and between Castellón and Vecindario. (04.02.07)

Valladolid didn't let their midweek cup defeat affect them, the leaders extending their unbeaten league record to seventeen games after drawing 2-2 at Las Palmas. Víctor and Alvaro put them two up early on, but goals by Txiki and Juanma in a two minute period before the break saved a valuable point for the locals. Cádiz moved up to third pending Sunday's games with a 1-0 win over Tenerife. Medina got the only goal shortly before the interval to make it twelve games without defeat. Ciudad Murcia are only two points behind them though after beating Xerez 1-0, Goitom heading the winner to keep up their unbeaten home record.

Málaga moved up into the top half of the table after a 0-1 win at Alavés, Perico stepping into the shoes of Salva to beat Porato and hand Dmitri Piterman's side their first home defeat of the season. Elche kept up their recent good run under new coach David Vidal, a 0-0 draw at Albacete taking them up to fourteenth and leaving their opponents just a place above the bottom four. Meanwhile Castilla climbed above the Manchegans after beating Hércules 0-3, Negredo, Granero and Bueno scoring all three in the second half of the match. (03.02.07)
